Removal of a crash after a tornado near the Czech D2 motorway

On 24 June 2021, a devastating tornado classified as F3-F4 struck southern Moravia. The tornado damaged transmission line V497 - an international 400 kV line connecting the Sokolnice transformer station (Czech Republic) with the Stupava substation (Slovakia).

SPIE Elektrovod won the tender for the reconstruction of eight steel poles in the period October 2021-January 2022. The work included 440 m³ of concrete, 92,149 kg of structural steel and 1,616 kg of paint.

All eight poles were erected by 20 December 2021. In January 2022, insulators, tension cables and conductors were installed across the entire D2 motorway in challenging winter conditions. The project was completed on 31 January 2022, with all investor inspections passing successfully.
